Hello everyone..in this post, I want to share a few tips with all of my friends, how we learn in cybersecurity, what to do first, what to learn, and where we will learn to make it easier to understand ??.^_^
Well, here I will introduce a straightforward platform for all friends who are new to the world of cybersecurity, namely: TryHackme.com.
On the platform, we can learn a lot of materials, from Pre-Security to professional level.
For this post, I will focus on the PRE SECURITY material, which will cover all the basic technical knowledge to get started in cybersecurity. To view the material, please visit the following link: TryHackMe.com/path/outline/presecurity
The PRE SECURITY material will be divided into several categories: Introduction to Cyber Security, Basic Networking, How the Web Works, Basic Linux, and Basic Windows.
Cyber Security Introduction
In this category, there is only one sub-category of material, namely Learning Cyber Security. The material explains in general web application security and Network Security.
In this web application security, we will be taught in general and basic ways how to take over someone’s account using brute force attacks.
The material is straightforward to follow because the explanation is complete and easy.
In-Network Security, we will see a brief description of the attack by someone who caused the data breach.
And at the end of the session, friends will be shown the learning path recommended by the TryHackMe.com team, namely whether to focus on Offensive Security or Defensive Security.
Network Fundamentals
In this material, we will learn various basic concepts of Networks. Starting from the introduction of Whats is Networking, Intro To LAN, OSI Model, Packets and Frames, and Extending your network.
The material explains the network and an explanation related to network security and how to protect it using a firewall.
Not only that, but we also learn the basic concepts of attacks that occur on a network.
How The Web Works
This material will study how the web works and what communication occurs when we try to access a website.
Some basic concepts of how the web works and some examples of weaknesses that exist on a website. All of these things are explained in detail on the THM platform.
Linux Fundamentals
In this Linux Fundamentals material, we will learn the concepts and basic commands of the Linux Terminal. We need to know that Linux is a perfect platform for system testing, and its performance doesn’t take up many resources from the PC device. So many devices such as servers, data centers, and several other cloud platforms use Linux as their standard OS.
Therefore, we will learn that three basic Linux materials will be studied, namely Linux Fundamentals Part 1, Linux Fundamentals Part 2, and Linux Fundamentals Part 3.
This material will explain starting from basic commands such as whoami and echo, which later will learn not only that but also cd, ls, cat, PWD, find, grep, connect ssh, change file permissions several other Linux commands.
Windows Fundamentals
In this material, we will focus on the Windows OS, where Windows is one of the OS that is widely used today, which is because the Windows OS has a GUI display that is easy to use by users at this time.
This windows material has two materials, namely Windows Fundamentals 1 and Windows Fundamentals 2.
This material is taught the use of windows in general but will be taught using the NTFS File System, UAC, Control Panel, system32, Resource Monitoring, Windows Registry, etc.
